Container Stack

Modern containerisation revolutionised the dynamics of global shipping and changed the way in which cargo moved across the globe.

In 2006 modern container shipping celebrated it’s 50th anniversary and use of this method of transport grew steadily over five and a half decades. In 2008, world container ship traffic carried an estimated 1.3 billion metric tonnes of cargo.

ISO containers (International Organisations for Standardisation) come in five common standard lenths, each with varying formats to accomodate different types of cargo. These include standard 20′, 40′ and 45′ containers with some available as high cube (HC) units that have additional height. There are also available as open top, flat rack container, ISO containers (for liquids/gas) to name just a few. Whilst the ‘equipment’ sizes and availability can differ slightly depending on the shipping line there is a PDF report to open below, detailing the specifications of the equipment.
