IPR Relief on Import

IPR is a process used to import goods into the UK on a temporary basis, suspending the duty and import VAT (or later repaid), provided the goods meet certain criteria for repair, re-packing or sorting in the UK, for re-export or release to a client at a later date (within 6 months and then paying the duty/tax).

An updated customs notice for this is available below;

Importing into the UK using IPR

Our import team can assist with any enquiries you have in relation to importing under the IPR regime and we can provide detailed support to arrange importation of your products under IPR for your processing, and complete the process by re-exporting under the IPR suspension term, thus cancelling the suspended duty/taxes*

Our import team can be contacted on imports@sotonfreight.co.uk and we also suggest that you contact HMRC for any specific clarification.

*provided your goods qualify for IPR
