Gala Charity Dinner

On the 7th October 2016, our insurers Portmore Insurance Brokers Ltd, concluded a year of fundraising with a Gala Dinner event at the Hilton Ageas Bowl.

Portmore were celebrating their 10th anniversary with a series of fundraising events for two charities that saw them complete a 24hr triathlon, sleep rough on the streets for a night and cycle to Paris!

The two benefactors of the fund raising campaign were Lahna Appeal and the Society of St. James;

The Lahna Appeal  – Set up in memory of Lahna who  passed away suddenly at 6 months old. Lahna contracted the common cold and slap cheek virus which ultimately lead to viral myocarditis (a viral infection of the heart muscle) and she died without warning. In her memory an appeal was set up in conjunction with the Southampton General Hospital to raise funds for vital pieces of life saving equipment that would have helped save her. 

The Society of St James – The Society of St James; established in 1972, is a Hampshire homelessness charity providing accommodation and support to over 2,500 people each year. This fantastic organisation makes a real difference to the lives of our homeless community helping them with rehabilitation.

The final event was a charity dinner at the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl

We purchased a table and took along clients, their partners and and a few members of our team to help raise money and celebrate the fantastic achievements of Portmore. In total they raised a whopping £70,000 during the year – split evenly between the two charities.

We were delighted to be part of the fundraising year, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
