New Arrivals at Southampton Freight Services!
We are very proud to announce an array of new arrivals into the SFS family!
Firstly, on the 23rd May, Derrick Etherden joined Cara, Adam and Chris on our import department, bringing an enormous amount of experience with him. His background is a mixture of more than 35 years in the public sector in various planning roles, followed by 15 years on import operations. His age, knowledge and calming personality blend perfectly with our current operation and hope you all enjoy working with him and make him feel a welcome addition to our team.
Our next arrival will be on Monday 27th June as we welcome back an old friend in the form of Russell Cox. He helped develop our Gold Express courier service when working at SFS in the early 2000’s before leaving to work in Manchester, handling global operations for another freight company. Russell brings with him a detailed logistical knowledge of the industry and will primarily work with Stan, Cara and Tash in developing our cruise line logistics operation, heading up our new Cruise Logistics Department. He will also work with our export departments putting his knowledge of courier, air and road transport to great use. We welcome him back to our family!
Another exciting arrival came at the beginning of June, when we took delivery of our new DAF 7.5 tonne, half rigid/half curtain side vehicle (pictured), complete with a larger bed and payload, joining our two Mercedes LWB Sprinter vans, covering our local area collections and deliveries. The longer length and width of the bed allows us to carry larger consignments and more pallets than previously – and a larger payload for our nightly run up to London Heathrow Airport.
As a final note, on the 25th April, our Financial Director Chris Negus happily welcomed his second child into the world. Little Abigail is a lovely healthy little girl, full of energy – which is more than we can say for her sleep deprived father! We all offer him slightly belated congratulations!
